Mis-sold Car Finance Update February 2026
After 12 months The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has finally concluded its investigation into the mis-sold car finance scandal. It is due to publish its compensation recommendations within the next 4 weeks.
Along with other Lawyers and client representatives, we anticipate they will write to the car dealerships and finance companies instructing them to calculate financial redress. The outcome of this is likely to be:
1. The dealer or finance company will respond they do not have your information on file. WRONG. They are obliged to keep this for a certain period of time. Where appropriate, we will contest this.
2. The dealer or finance company will make you an one-off compensation offer. WRONG. How do you know it is what you are really entitled to? Under UK Consumer Law once you agree to this, or bank a cheque you have accepted their offer and cannot go back and complain or claim again. Where appropriate, we will contents this.
