Mis-sold Car Finance Update Sept 2026

We apologise for the delay in progressing your mis‑sold car finance claim. We would like to provide you with an update on the current position.

As of this May 2026, a legal challenge has been raised by consumer's legal representatives, banks and lenders regarding the FCA’s (The FCA is an independent public body in the UK that regulates the financial services industry) proposed compensation scheme. We believe the existing approach may be incorrect and the outcome of this review could lead to a more favourable result for consumers.

This review now sits with the Upper Court and cannot be heard until December 2026 or January 2027. This delay is the same for all mis-sold car finance claims in the UK and covers those submited by all Claims Companies, Lawyers, Solicitors and personal representatives. We all have to abide by this and unfortunately wait for the legal decision.

 

​The FCA has reiterated that securing fair compensation remains its priority and we are in close contact with them and will continue to work in your best interests.

Businesses have been advised to continue preparing for the scheme until the Upper Court and FCA communicates otherwise.
